Micromagnetics of mesoscopic epitaxial „110... Fe elements with nanoshaped ends

چکیده
The magnetization reversal and magnetic domain configurations of 0.5-mm-wide epitaxial ~110! Fe particles with rectangular and needle-shaped ends and competing magnetic anisotropies have been investigated. Magnetic force microscopy imaging and longitudinal Kerr hysteresis loop measurements in conjunction with micromagnetic simulations have been used to elucidate the basic micromagnetic behavior. End shape is shown to be a determining factor for the nucleation of magnetization reversal and the resulting magnetic domain configurations.

Micromagnetics of submicron „110... Fe elements
The magnetization processes and the domain structure of epitaxial ~110! Fe submicron-sized elements are studied experimentally and with micromagnetic simulations. Magnetic force microscopy and Kerr magnetometry results are in good agreement with the simulations, thus allowing the development of a consistent picture of the micromagnetics of these systems. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S...
متن کاملGrowth and morphology of the epitaxial Fe(110)/MgO(111)/Fe(110) Trilayers
Growth and surface morphology of epitaxial Fe(110)/MgO(111)/Fe(110) trilayers constituting a magnetic tunnel junction were investigated by low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). STM reveals a grain-like growth mode of MgO on Fe(110) resulting in dense MgO(111) films at room temperature as well as at 250 C. As observed by STM, initial deposition of MgO le...

Thin-film elements of 2-mm width and 6-mm length and greater have been ...
متن کاملSurface-step-induced double magnetic switching of Fe on vicinal W(100).
Two-level magnetic switching of a bilayer epitaxial Fe film grown on a graded stepped W(100) surface is observed using the magneto-optic Kerr effect. Hysteresis loops produced by the film at a location on the curved W(100) surface corresponding to a vicinal angle of 6.4 degrees exhibit two abrupt jumps in magnetization following spin orientation perpendicular to the steps resulting from surface...
